2015

10 years' anniversary of ORS

Digital terrestrial television upgraded from DVB-T to simpliTV (DVB-T2) in the Tyrol, in Vorarlberg, Styria and southern Burgenland.

Start of DAB+ test operation in Vienna with ORS as licensed operator and together with the "Verein Digitalradio Österreich"- "Association Digital Radio Austria".

ORS comm acquires a stake in the video on demand platform Flimmit

ORS comm takes over adworx operational units Adserving and Adoperating and offers the whole range of all related services.

 

2014

Start of upgrading from DVB-T to simpliTV (DVB-T2) in Carinthia.

ORS broadcasts all ORF Bundesland (regional) programmes in HD via satellite and simpliTV.

 

2013

Start of DVB-T2/simpliTV in Austria with a technical range of about 90 percent. For the first time, HDTV programmes can be received via digital antenna in Austria, through simpliTV.

 

2012

Foundation of simpli services GmbH & Co KG

Development of the countrywide Austrian DVB-T2 network.

 

2011

ORS comm GmbH & Co KG (a 100 percent subsidiary company of ORS) is founded in early January 2011.

 

2010

ORS tackles changing technological framework conditions and the ensuing new way of media consumption by means of a new company strategy, "Strategy 2015".

 

2009

ORS has been broadcasting ServusTV HD via satellite as of October, 2009, and since December, 2009, ORF 2 in HD as well.

 

2008

As one of the first providers, ORS broadcasts ORF 1 in HD via satellite in Austria - as early as in June, 2008.

 

2006

In 2006, ORS was licensed to operate a terrestrial multiplex platform with two covers (MUX A and MUX B).

 

2005

In 2005, the field Broadcast Engineering was hived off from ORF and the independent company ORS (Österreichische Rundfunksender GmbH & Co KG - Austrian Broadcasting Services) was founded.  ORS is in charge of installation, operation and maintenance of the terrestrial transmitter network as well as of digital satellite transmission throughout Austria.
