Using media always and everywhere

Consumers' media usage habits have changed. Users want to use media "always and everywhere" (independence of location and multi-screen).

Content via IP follows this trend. Hybrid DVB terminal devices allow both reception of traditional television via satellite or cable as well as broadband network connection and integrated display of IP contents.

According to all available forecasts, linear television will remain the predominant form of production for "big screens". At the same time, multimedia "over the top" contents (OTT) for time-shifted consumption will also gain significance.  Because of a scarcity of frequency spectrum, terrestrial is limited in the provision of channels, also with regard to simpliTV (DVB-T2). Relief is provided by a complementary diversity of convergent contents from television and internet as well as of hybrid non-linear services such as video on demand or catch-up TV.
