Since June, 2001, KRONEHIT can be received in Vienna and Lower Austria. In December 2004, after an amendment of the law on private radio, KRONEHIT obtained a nationwide private radio broadcasting license for the dissemination of its radio programme. The transmitter network and with it, technical coverage have been expanded consistently ever since.
Extension of the broadcasting area
KRONEHIT and ORS decided gradually to expand transmission facilities, in addition to the existing ones, in the period between 2013 and late 2015. This gap closure is especially to the benefit of KRONEHIT listeners. Altogether, up to 30 new transmitters will be put into service over that period. Thus, KRONEHIT will expand its reception area and enhance quality of reception.
ORS services KRONEHIT
KRONEHIT private radio can be received via 112 transmitting stations in Austria – by the end of 2015, about 75 transmitters will be operated by ORS. With around two thirds of transmitters, KRONEHIT-programme feed is effected via satellite reception units mounted at corresponding locations provided by ORS on its transmitter masts. The necessary mounting works are carried out by an ORS team.
KRONEHIT via cable
As of November, 2012, the KRONEHIT programme is broadcast not only via VHF but also via the cable multiplex operated by ORS in cooperation with ORF. This modern transmission technology enables all interested cable network operators to feed KRONEHIT into the respective cable network in high digital quality at 204 kBit/s.
Ernst Swoboda, managing director of KRONEHIT, on the cooperation with ORS : "For KRONEHIT it is important to have ORS as our strong and reliable partner who provides perfect technical support for our dynamic growth strategy".
